Today was my favorite day of the week. Beyond; this morning was my favorite pocket of life. Children’s Mass in our nation’s oldest town and church. The walk I’ve described fondly so many times. Here are some impromptu thoughts and imagery about it (not needed for the spirit of this piece)…

As I’m going to do every Wednesday moving forward, I found a mentally stimulating spot to sit down and get the thoughts out which consume my mind in those peaceful halls. Today was a shining example! I really like to listen to the old words, the gospel, and then follow how the priest or deacon tries to extrapolate them into the modern. I like to analyze both the greater meaning tracing way back and why the modern man chose this specific message in our current context. Man, have I put a lot of the greater puzzle together by doing this! Our puzzle, I mean. Our societal strife; not the greater life puzzles. On those, I am arguably more lost than ever before. But I’ll dive into that elsewhere.

I’m sure many of you reading this chuckle at that phrasing above. “You mean you enjoy church service, Theo?” Lol the jab is fair. Yes, that’s basically what I’m saying. I get why the gospel says what it says. I see how the lessons cement over centuries. I identify their value and strength. I am able to witness the past-to-present generational stitching. But has this brought me closer to God?
