I’ve decided to begin doing a weekly recap on Sunday morning. I spend so much time discussing current events and cultural issues on Twitter and that is such a strange and unique platform. As those who follow me on the Bird know, I like to write in long threads there. It’s how you bust out of the character confines and it also provides a neat forum for cross-linking with previous thoughts or other sources. There are two reasons I chose to deploy my web-of-threads of approach. The first is that typically the link is an expansion of the thought in the post above. A lot of these topics bleed into each other, and many of them have been spinning for years now. Usually the internal thread links further flesh-out the immediate post, without me writing the same words over and over. I also did it to help get my message out, especially back when I could see my account being throttled. And that goes back to the strange and unique platform, the thinking behind this Sunday Rewind. You can write a killer thread at 9am and maybe 2% of your followers will see it. Retweet it again at 10pm that night and an entirely different subset views the same words. Don’t do that and those words fade away, likely never to be read again. That is the driver of my obsessive RTs and why I like to include links to old threads in the new ones I write. I know it drives some people crazy, but that’s my gig! And so in that spirit, I’m going to plan on writing a weekly recap on Sunday, with links to the larger threads I put together earlier in the week.
Midterms
Nothing consumed this week’s burners more than midterms. I’m a bit burned-out on the topic myself as it reached such a crescendo heading into Tuesday and then consumed every breath the next few. It was a fascinating evening though. It both went exactly how I expected and also nothing like it at all. The dichotomy between Florida and much of the US was simply staggering! The big story nationally was that the widely-anticipated red wave did not not manifest. But holy cow did a tidal wave come down here in the Sunshine State!
The numbers are jaw-dropping. Crist held 5 counties across the entire state. Five. This is a race that was decided by 32,000 votes in its last cycle, in a state that has been one of our most important purple-barometers, and DeSantis just won by a margin of over 1.5 million. Chew on that jump. It’s hard to wrap your mind around. And it wasn’t racist conservative white males who hate gay people and militant white guys wanting to overthrow democracy for fascism, as our Truman Show-media was foaming at the mouth to lead you to believe. Miami-Dade went red. It hasn’t been red in my adult life. Palm Beach, once a stronghold of blue support in Florida which is comprised largely of retirees from the NE Corridor, went red. Osceola surged 21pts to end GOP+7 when it had gone D+14 last cycle. Jacksonville and the First Coast is now a red stronghold. Even Tampa, one of the last remaining little pockets of activism, voted DeSantis. The FL DNC is a complete dumpster fire of an organization right now, a true embarrassment that refused to pivot one inch off national activism-driven messaging that had such grip nationally (with billboards even being paid by NYC) but had zero footing with actual Floridians. This was a bloodbath that cut across every region and demographic.
And so the question becomes, was the shocking success in Florida an isolated anomaly due to unique aspects of the state? Or did other factors hold back a greater national push that were unique to 2022? That answer will determine the future of this country politically. In many ways, that answer will provide us the conclusion of our “culture war”. I believe it was largely the latter. There are three reasons for that. First, is my unwavering belief that what is taking place in the US right now (really, globally) is much bigger than GOP/DNC election-cycles. I firmly believe in “The Energy”, and I screamed into the wind for two straight years on here that you’d see it manifest in Florida in 2022. That DeSantis would knock The Truman Show offline for good in 2022 with historic reelection numbers after we were told ad nauseum that he was so awful and “Death DeSantis” and a bigoted fascist who had all of us Floridians under a grip of fear and tyranny. I hope everyone now realizes how idiotic that was. More importantly than idiotic and detached, it was overt propaganda to make the populace confused and ignorant in order to herd it where it best serves others’ interests. For example, “Don’t Day Gay” was always national messaging to pump fervor elsewhere, it had no grip down here. Ever. Yet, how much did YOU hear about it? Probably one of the few things you did hear. Why? Because The Truman Show only distributes three papers nationally: the one in Miami, Orlando and Tampa. How bout that! And so from COVID days to leftism-in-school days to Florida-fascism days, the national narrative has never matched reality here on the ground. It’s been so obvious, that’s why I’ve repeated it so often. And man, did those receipts show up on Tuesday. This thread has links to most I wrote here this week…
See, there were some numbers outside of Florida that tell an important story when we contrast them to here; contrast them to the fact these movements DIDN’T happen within our state lines. Not in rural areas or urban; not with white Floridians or non-white ones; not with men or women; not with young or old; not with former DNC voters, lifelong Republicans, or people floating in the middle. Two stand out to me. The first is record <30 turnout. This is the canvas of activism! This is all the FL DNC could see, and why they failed so miserably. The activist surge didn’t turn out here, even with ALLLLL the insane messaging and money that was poured into it. Why? But the second one is the heavy-lifter. Married men went GOP nationally. Unmarried men went GOP nationally. Married women broke strongly GOP nationally. And single women went D+37. D plus thirty-fucking-seven! A number that floors you. A number that tells some very important stories. I think there is one story inside that number that should terrify the DNC. There won’t always be a Dobbs.
The final wrinkle is perhaps the most important one for the GOP looking forward. The cult of personality. It may be difficult for people who aren’t on the ground here to get a sense of this since the media is so intensely in the opposite direction, but what happened down here was NOT the sainthood of Ron DeSantis. Ron deserves tremendous credit for all he has done as a governor here. Those who read my stuff know I’ve dished out a lot of that credit. I’ve never held a higher opinion of a politician at any level. I’m dead-serious. But see, that’s not because I want a DeSantis autograph, or want to wear a Ron jersey, or put him on prayer candles. Even though I’ll be forever thankful, it’s not about Ron, it’s about what Ron did for us. And so many at the national level are now trying to turn him into this bombastic character who is all about promoting himself, when he’s never come across that way to the people he actually serves. That packaging serves those dishing it out; the rivalry between DeSantis and Trump is the best trump card the DNC has to play now. Ron DeSantis won people like me over with his actions as governor. Through some of the rockiest times of all of our lives, we had the best damn leader in America. I now feel more on Team Florida than Team US, as sad as that is to say. But that’s again now our reality. That’s how massive the gap was between what DeSantis was doing for us down here, and what Team Biden was commanding from the federal level that we should be doing instead - while their sister media-apparatus relentlessly pounded our leader for his dissent! You can see why I am forecasting so much to land on states’ rights. That really is the seam here. But it’s critical to grasp this difference between the movement of the people down here which DeSantis is now the figurehead of, vs the notion of a movement that is about a figurehead itself. This is something the GOP outside of Florida better figure out quickly. Below is a thread I wrote in this vein. The people, not a politician.
The Culture War
I dropped “The Term” above, because the lava underlying the greater struggle going on in America hasn’t gone anywhere. The final things I wrote about midterms above touch on this very much. For I am one who strongly believes the unique factors of these midterms were largely rooted in what was unique to 2022 and not what is unique about Florida. Remember that unmarried men, married men, married women, then D+37? Florida is a barometer and not an anomaly. I wrote a lot about the “culture war”-topic from a non-political lens yesterday. It’s mostly found under this link below. The clip of a white man in womanface berating real white women on how horrible they are from a critical-theory perspective rooted in deranged webs of oppression and batshit insanity…
This is a harsh thread, but it’s one everyone should read…
What’s happening in our country and being pushed on our children is deeply disturbing…
Leftist cultural takeover. It’s that simple. Grab another cup of coffee and dive down this collection…
Amnesty
We had this insane plea for “Amnesty” written by “Unapologetically Data-Driven” Emily Oster which was published in The Atlantic. It was one of the most absurd and enraging pieces I’ve ever read. There was no desire to scrutinize what occurred and take ownership of the role of our “expert-class” in this all. No, it was more of the same empty sanctimonious “we were all the same”-nonsense that you see everywhere in media and ‘expert’ circles. I called bullshit…
And why is it so enraging? Because the idea of amnesty implies this is all somehow past-tense. But we have unnecessary shots being forced on kids, now on the childhood schedule which all kids will get for life if their governors don’t block, we have deceptive studies still rolling out to serve Big Pharma and not public-health (watch Vinay’s video below), we have Team Biden allowing his auto-renewing emergency powers to renew once again through Spring of 2023 just two days after the election which was just a month after he said “The pandemic is over” and doubled-down on it, Walensky getting sick after the touted-booster only to treat with Paxlovid and get sick again and then say we need more of the same drugs, we have hordes of crazed people demanding mask mandates again, and hordes of compromised officials trying to help Pfizer keep printing billions while more and more disturbing data surfaces that this “More needles in everyone!”-campaign is not in our best interests. So, no, you can piss off with your "“amnesty”. Below is a long thread on the topic.
Chappelle Pulls Another Seal Off
Watch the clip. Read the surrounding threads. This story is going to grow into a monster. Thankfully, we have people like Dave still. People who will help us ensure the story is told more honestly.
What do Kanye and Kyrie have in common?
All Chips at Climate-Mania!
This shit has become so predictable…
They even launched a new Truman Show Climate Star… Hot Greta.
To corral all those young and rabid activists…
And who really is Hot Greta? Our next great climate mind? Of course not. She’s this model-chick below who jet-sets around the world and posts pictures of herself on Instagram. “So how did she end up sitting on a United Nations Climate Council?” Because she’s good friends with Bull Gates’s daughter, of course. It’s all a Truman Show.
Theo, appreciate the work you do and that you are now on substack. It helps me hold high conviction in my perspectives during this crazy time. My wife and I consistently find ourselves asking if we are the ignorant crazy ones when interacting with most of our college educated friends. We lived in Chicago for 10 years and finally decided to leave, we have 3 boys under the age of 4 and said we had enough with CRT and gender ideology in the schools/culture as well as the social rejection if you’re unvaxxed.
I’m constantly thinking deeply on how we want to raise our boys in this culture and find that we reject most of it. As a kid and young adult I had a lot of frustration because I never completely fit into one racial box (my wife and I both have black/white biological parents). The irony is that those childhood experiences have served us well in these deceptive times.
Mr. Jordan,
I truly enjoy following the Twitter page you run, and the Cornucopia of views and perspectives shared. Honestly, I can't figure out how you find the time during the day to post as much content. Haha
Since I know you are a busy person, I wanted to post an extended comment on Substack regarding the topic of "Longtermism" that I believe I sent you last week. This way you can get a summation of the concept without having to pour over the articles.
Essentially, Longtermism takes the idea of Utilitarianism to the farthest logical extreme. Instead of looking at say, one nation, a small regional issue, or one city's affairs, (sanitation, healthcare, taxes, et all.) Longtermism covers an expanse of continents, or even global matters. Think Davos conferences, or WEF meddling in the affairs of the globe. (Especially the WHO) The chilling realization is that small groups of elites actually believe they have some mantle of authority to decide what is best for billions of people. This conviction of purpose allows them to rationalize truly horrific outcomes for the results they want to achieve.
That's just a small summation for this concept. It is interesting (and disturbing) to research how this is put into practice while analyzing current events unfolding around us. Yes, it has the fringe markings of a conspiracy theory, i.e. globalists or elites running the world...but the idea of small groups wielding power and influence over decisions affecting billions of people is not far-fetched if one intently follows the news and events occurring daily. (Covid, WEF, Green Energy scam)
Thank you for your time and continue the great work! I myself am trying to make analyzing politics, culture and history my full-time job soon.
Respectfully,
ArthurinCali
