Conversations with Erich Hartmann 10-3-24

Erich (at erichhartmann) has been an inspiration to me for a long time. Back in the dark days of capture during COVID, he was on my Mt. Rushmore of brilliant minds and brave voices who were willing to pushback and defend the sensical even if it wasn’t in his best interests. This era and experience shaped him greatly as we discussed at the start of the talk. We grew a respect for each other because we were out on the same frontlines day in and day out. But this was the first time I really got to know the man behind the epic neon face. I know it sounds trite, but he was way more impressive in person than I could have even imagined in print! We left off as friends, and that’s the most special part of all to me.

We will absolutely be recording more discussions together. Our minds meshed really well and it was wonderful to be able to expand these topics out in real-time. That’s the goal of this project; a running dialogue and not individual episodes. I think we made headway across several fronts in less than two hours. I can’t wait to have this opportunity again! Thank you, Erich. I’m honored to know you.
