It's not the heavy topics I miss writing about on the Bird. I can do that here. Sure, my words on Substack don't reach nearly the same amount of eyeballs, but that's ok. I was writing long threads on Twitter back at the end of 2020 and the first half of 2021 when hardly anyone was reading them either. I was aware of that; I accepted that; it was part of the plan. I knew eventually the sound would travel and people would wonder what the hell I was chopping so hard at. They'd come to see and the numbers around me would grow - precisely what happened. And so I don’t mind doing the same thing again here. I'm kind of intrigued by the fresh challenge. It’s the little stuff I miss...
I understand, but I hope you will reconsider and return to Twitter. The immediate connection of that place is not available anywhere else. You are missed.
You're missed, Theo. There are a lot of fiery writers on Twitter, but few that I've found that write at your level. Glad you're here and that I get an email every time you publish!
The stuff you won't miss is my experience tonight, futilely trying to bring a guy to his senses who believes that prohibiting gas stoves is really about an asthma hazard and not about furthering the climate change agenda by chipping away at another use of "fossil fuels." I think he, like most people on these hobby horses, is just deluded by the narrative beatdown rather than an active, conscious agent for it. The shallow stupidity and susceptibility to the brainwashing is just pervasive.
I always tell my kids that life is like a river and they should always be the water and not the rocks. Keep flowing over and around your obstacles. Eventually the water will wear down the rocks.
Wondered where you went. Figured it out just now. Twitter ain't real life or even close to it. I'll miss reading your threads but I bet it will be better for you being off the dopamine machine. :)

I want these pieces on Twitter for the engagement. Sure, there are 90% trolls and hot takes but in that 10% sometimes I find interesting conversations with folk from around the world who see things through a different lens
I am with you there 100%, my friend! I miss that rich dialogue immensely. That was what I drove for there, not to push out my own rambles. And we had really built an incredibly energy! And it's all taken away in the click of a button over bullshit. But it is what it is. Thankfully, I do have the option of deleting. I'm enjoying this fresh start right now, it's got me pumped up and excited, feeling something new! I was burning out a bit on the Bird. If this doesn't go where I want it to in the coming weeks, I'll possibly reevaluate in Feb. I appreciate you coming here to support me, Tom. Means a lot.
