Why I despise "Pride"

A real-life story

I just experienced something that gave me the perfect lens to explain why I have such disdain for the entire notion of “Pride”. I have a 10 year old daughter, who I have talked about many times before. She was my first and is my angel. Daddy’s little girl. Much of what I write and speak about has been crafted through the intense love I have for her and the innate fiery desire to protect her. Having children of my own has truly made me see all of life differently.

So I’m chilling with her tonight talking about her favorite game, “Adopt Me!” on the Roblox platform. Roblox is basically a sand-box platform that allows creators to make games. Any games, really. Although I’ll give them credit that they do a good job of policing inappropriate games as I don’t see many. Anyhow, “Adopt Me!” is a massive production, maybe the biggest game on the thing. You basically raise little pet animals and trade them and other items. It’s a cartoonish and fun world. I play it with her. Well, I haven’t played in a while and she had been talking about the latest update. They’ll do an update every couple of months which brings new animals to raise and items to find. She casually says “the Pride update” and keeps on talking. I’m thinking “Maaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn”. So whatever, we keep talking about what we were and we’re headed to bed at this point when she kind of corners me with a “What does it mean, Dad? Pride? Pride like what?”. Well, here’s the rub…

I don’t talk about sexuality with my 10 year old daughter. She simply hasn’t been interested in it yet. Hasn’t expressed much at all beyond a very recent crush on some kids at school. Playground stuff, because she’s still a young child. She’ll suck her thumb when she’s really tired. She hasn’t thought about whether penises (straight) or vaginas (gay) or both at once (bisexual) or trans too (pansexual) or none at all (asexual) is her sexual gig. She doesn’t have a sexual gig. She’s 10. She definitely hasn’t articulated one. And who the hell would you think you are to poke and prod into my little girl’s mind about her sexual or romantic attractions? GTFO! I would fight someone who did that, when you put it in those terms. But what do we mean “in those terms”? It’s the same thing when a teacher asks elementary-aged children if they are gay or trans. It’s the same thing when a teacher celebrates “Pride” with schoolchildren. What are they celebrating? Literal question. They are celebrating people who have a sexual preference outside of heterosexual. WTF Look at what this convo has already devolved into. We were talking about my little angel, right? Daddy’s little girl. You’ve lost your damn mind if you think I’m ok with other adults being the ones to decide when and how these sensitive topics will be broached with my own seed. This is why the lava burns so hot. This topic is THE line! And yet, it’s all become a big train wreck of overreach as these matters ride in under amorphous bullshit like DEI and “Pride”. I’m told I’m a bigot if I won’t CELEBRATE this stuff? What?!? Herein lies the tension. Let’s return to Roblox…

The reason that kind of shit pisses me off so much is because by shoving this down our children’s throats, they do become the one who choses when and how these topics are broached. In fact, the reality way too many parents don’t understand is they are trying to get to them first to paint the canvas. I have to engage my daughter on this tonight June 2nd because her game for little kids is having a rainbow-fest complete with trans and pansexual flags? It’s ridiculous. Now, they can make their game., because I can choose not to play it. Schools and government are a very different matter. But my objection here is more general. I want to see our society get away from wearing sexual identities like sports jerseys. Nobody cares if you like penis instead of vagina; if you find boys to be the ones you want to flirt with instead of girls. Then you be you and go do that! You don’t need to exclaim it to the world day in and day out. You don’t need it on your bio and resume. And we surely don’t need endless holidays and days of grievance and genocide and phobia, government coercion and downright forced-championing with athletes and celebrities going under struggle sessions if they dare not genuflect, and then months of celebration and “Pride Nights” as deranged as having devil painted cross-dressing nuns mocking Christianity while we tell crowds to clap for this madness as inclusive and “Pride”.

Yes, it’s all this stupid when you get away from all the noise and set it on the table by itself. More importantly, it’s this wrong. The reason terms like “groomer” have surfaced and parents nationwide are so pissed, is this is an egregious encroachment on the domain of parents as the two people who birthed this child and will take care of its every need for two decades or beyond. When you allow activists and ideologues to aggressively push this in schools because it’s riding under DEI and “Pride” we have big big problems. And this issue goes from the big down to the small, like Roblox and Target. But it’s all the same thing —> The Same Thing. This isn’t about inclusion or anything noble. It’s about Queer+ activism. It IS about sexualizing and indoctrinating children (off the normal - “queering”). And it’s time for it to end. I can write a piece this fiery this easily because this fire is real. I walk out of my babygirl’s room after tucking her in just now and I’ve got fuel for days.
