Avatar Culture and the test-tube kids

Part I

Several years ago, I threw the term “Avatar Culture” out there. This is a link to a thread I had put together around it, but I never took the time to properly grapple with the idea. And I say properly because I think it could be the most important discussion of our time…

Back when I was a kid, we didn’t have the internet. We didn’t have any way to link amongst each other outside of, well, being outside. Yeah, we had land-lines, but those only sparked romances and not friendships. There might have been a giant brick-sized car phone or satellite phone here and there in the world, but none of us had them. There was the real-world outside and then there was your home with you inside it. The notion of having an avatar didn’t exist at all. Well, that’s not quite fair; it did, but we did the same mental gymnastics in what were dubbed “role-playing games (RPGs)”. The most poignant example of this was Dungeons & Dragons. I was huge into fantasy role-playing back then! I was gobbling up Dragonlance and then D&D novels before I left elementary school. We played dice-based games going all the way back to at least 4th grade. I had entire runs of my life where I was deeply immersed in fantasy characters. I didn’t really disappear into the role-playing side myself beyond the game sessions, but the mythologies and worlds created by these creative geniuses back then had me entranced for years and years. There is no doubt the notion of “Avatar Culture” exists very strongly there. Heck, the entire world is constructed around it. You get to role-play as Bruenor the mighty king and battle-hardened dwarf, if you so choose. Make your own character, role some dice and dub him “Thoran, the Fighter”. He is huge and strong, brave and ferocious when needed. Everything that you aren’t. That’s kind of the point for many. I was fascinated by Ranger characters as well as Mages myself. As much as I love the outdoors, my real-world skills are laughable compared to my Army SF buddy or even just some of my other buddies. I role-play Drizzt much closer to being him. And none of us have or will ever cast a spell. Endless fun reading through that giant book of them though!

The societal concern back then in the vein I’m on was that these other-world games largely drew in fringe-types and outcasts. Of course they did; see paragraph above. Escapism is central to RPGs and why the ranks of gamers has and will always be stacked with nerds. That’s not a mean statement; it’s one of fact. We all need to stop being so sensitive in the face of fact. That’s how we got so far away from facts and reality we are now told women can have penises. Those who fall out of our natural orders and societal frameworks (the concord, the reward they provide) will naturally gravitate towards spheres where those disadvantages melt away. Thoran is a bad MFer! And so, as the internet launched and began to transform our world, we all worried that these nerds would isolate deeper and deeper into digital silos and therefore retreat further and further away from the real-world. Let’s sum up everything other than these digital playgrounds as “IRL”. I too figured this was the natural progress because the concept of “Avatar Culture” was clear back then. If I am the nerdy kid at school, or the super skinny kid at school, or maybe the mega fat kid at school, or the hairy stinky one from a dirty home, whatever, I’m just not getting my life-tanks filled up every day like the jock and the handsome guy or the pretty girl or the rich kids or whoever got better cards than you in life for whatever the hell reason it might have been. This is life on Planet Earth, not some Roblox game about equalizing. But when I go lead my guild on a raid as Thoran The Mighty and whoop ass all up and down the dungeon, suddenly I have people praising me! Real people too. Yeah, it’s through their own digital avatar. It’s some badass Drizzt-looking character who loves the game as much as you, but we both know that a step away from this LARP it is really Mark or Timothy and he is probably a lot like you. This is all good! It’s cool. This is the whole world of role-playing phantasma. Again, I love this shit. I’ve danced within it my entire life. I even ran an MMORPG guild. No shit. It was a wonderful chapter of my life. Some of those people are friends of mine today IRL. I take my now-12 year old daughter to gaming stores all the time. We were just in one last weekend. It was packed and booming with life! It also stunk of nerds. Lol

But what ultimately played out was nothing like these predictions at all. In fact, you can make a good argument it was their inverse. Instead of the fringes of bell-curves and outcasts of our (successful) societal orders retreating inside digital walls filled with comfortable avatars, they took on the faux-identity for sure, but then marched those creations right off the screens and across every damn wrinkle of our society through this legal portal that was created called “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”. Suddenly, Thoran The Mighty was Theresa The Progress Woman! And although it feels downright Twilight Zone to even type these words; stunningly, this newly-minted Theresa had become (led to be) convinced Zir had the right to just stomp on everything we have built over centuries. It never had any more basis than role-playing an Elven Mage. Can you imagine some Harry Potter-obsessed dweeb coming out of the halls of academia and proclaiming to regular society that he has magical powers we must all allow into our homes and adapt our lives around because Science and Progress have proven his little wooden-stick wand is legit? What?!? Again, it’s just dumb to write. But what is the substantive difference between that LARP and some dude telling me he is a woman now and must be treated as such? There is none. And that applies to the well-dressed up dude in the halls of Congress too. The one our “Liberals” are still required to call “she”. No, you don’t get to become a woman because FrankenFemmes and Progress said so. You’re just a confused man who decided he had to play out his avatar creation into reality itself because his actual reality brought him so much unhappiness and discontent. He NEEDS to be Thoran to… I don’t know, be happy I guess. This is the notion of “right to exist”. But no, this role-played female version of yourself does not have any legal rights in America or hopefully anywhere in reality. Nor should someone who showed up proclaiming they are a Paladin from Faerûn. And don’t get me wrong, I love Paladins and I spent a lot of time in Faerûn!

See, what ended up happening is that these fringe kids (largely from broken homes and/or outer edge of other cultural frameworks) all amassed into these specific spheres of society that pretty much only produce thought-widgets. Aha! The world of avatars. It’s to the professional world as the internet and SM was to the social one. There is an interesting bridge or timeline worth focusing in on that really makes this story pop. In many ways, we did this all to ourselves…

Remember back around the turn of the millennia when we had just come off The Roaring Nineties, everything was booming and trending upwards, social mixing was happening across the 50 like we’ve never had before, America was at its high-point? But also recall back then (or really, the next decade on) how our colleges and certain college-pipeline professional spheres (credential, gatekeeping) got really really weird? The antisocial (increasingly sociopathic) behavior displayed within these environments was jaw-dropping. It’s mind-boggling and infuriating to look at now, but what we all need to grapple with is it looked this bad back then too. And instead of addressing it, for some inexplicable reason, we elevated it culturally and in doing so empowered it! In doing so, we created a true Frankenstein. I’m not exaggerating here; neither the progression nor the fact this is on us all as a greater people. “Safe spaces” and “trigger warnings”. WTF was that?!? Why were we catering to these petulant brats? Why were we disrupting and inverting (“dismantling”) all of society to placate these outcasts and fringe-types? Again, when you pull back away from the mass-mania of it all (manufactured false consensus through media capture which resulted in a true period of moral-panic) it is almost difficult to process. This was the very definition of a trainwreck in slow motion and, man, we as a people just sat there and clapped like seals. Why we were brainwashed by and succumbed to “Progress” propaganda (Hatecraft) will be the greatest discussion of the rest of our lives. Hopefully that discussion will destroy the Death Star of Equity and restore the American bulwark of individual liberty. But I speak enough about that elsewhere. I want to stay focused on the kids…

Instead of us doing our duty as adults and squashing this petulant insanity to keep it confined to societal pockets like we would a bratty toddler in his room, we almost to the person dismissed it with the line “They are just college kids. They will grow up when the real-world hits them.”. All the while we were empowering their petulance with this artificial framework that was granting them legal protections as new forms of human species which justify protected-class laws. Staggering! This ideology now sits on SCOTUS. “I can’t define a woman because I’m not a biologist”. In some painful irony, when a biologist then defines these not-at-all complicated things, they are screamed at and called bad names because The FrankenFemme Science doesn’t agree with what we used to call science.

Of course they didn’t grow up. We were slapping them high-5s and telling them how wonderful it was that they were breaking everything built by our forefathers in an obsession over this new empty religion. Humanism, Equity, Liberation Theology, Oppression Scripture, Scientology, gender, Patriarchy and FrankenFemme, Queer+ mania and sex acts as primary identity, (L)esbian and (B)i and (Q)ueer and (Trans) and LGBTQIA2S+TO-INFINITY! It’s all the same pot; it’s all “Avatar Culture” and “Queer+ (Equity) revolution”. Wild, man. Absolutely batshit crazy.

They didn’t grow up; no no no, they went out and turned all of our IRL into a liberal-arts campus instead. This is the final crashing down of Avatar Culture. The nerds did not end up trapped inside basements with glowing blue screens and mac ‘n cheese, we launched a full-out Revenge of The Nerds period where they damn near Reign of Terrored across all of American governance and culture because of their dominance within the managerial class. And based on the increasingly psychotic posts we’re now seeing on Bluesky, I think many of these kids have been brainwashed into such a sense of zealotry they would commit violent acts in the name of “End Hate”. Remember that NatSec word “Stochastic Terrorism”? I sure do. I believe it resides most profoundly within the world of avatars.

There was a second part of what I wanted to drill into. That was the prevalence of phones within back-to-back generations and how they really had no filters early on. We went from children growing up in local webs and family walls to them having a portal to every aspect of human debauchery and moral decay on Planet Earth. A portal that specifically excluded their own parents and caretakers and church and extended family and every single mooring previous generations of our children were anchored to. What was, is, and perhaps always will be, THE primary usage of the internet? Pornography, and it’s not even close. Two generations of children saw things their eyes should never have seen. Saw it at very young ages, and that problem increases almost by the day. Completely desensitized them to everything sexual; stole their innocence. Took from them the sanctity and magic that act is supposed to be packaged around. Remember, that act creates the next generation of life. And if you have no respect for the act, how can you have respect for the life? This didn’t happen by surprise, it is the dream result of Queer Theorists who seek to disrupt the world in a cruel game of “misery loves company”. Our children now get a crash course in how disgusting the world of sex can be… and are told to clap and smile and call it “Pride” and “Queer+” and unassailable Progress. They’re told a dogmatic academic creation called “gender” supersedes sex and children can use it to literally change from being boys to girls and vice-versa. A dogmatic scripture that likely clashes against their family’s own (“Critical Christ Theory”). Those who aren’t subjected to this madness and still moored by American roots are told their families are not just old-fashioned, but bigoted and wrong. Told this by our state. Again, do you think this was by chance? If so, you’re a fool. Look who created Big Tech and social-media. Look who controls it. We now have moms who run as financial manager for their daughters who get paid millions to have sex with 100 men in a single day. That happened this week. That’s where these Progress and Queer crusades have crashed down. The LGBTQIA2S+ flag on the White House symbolizes the same witches’ stew. That poor girl’s avatar has become very real, hasn’t it? But I shouldn’t say “poor girl”. Her avatar has earned her seven-figures and now our own daughters may damn well be enticed by that same poison apple if we don’t get them to understand that Twitter is not real-life.

This was actually the more important part of this essay (what damage SM and phones did and how I now believe the current gens and on will do an almost full-reversal, leaving Gen Z and Gen Y as a historical test-tube), but I’m out of time. Theo Jordan doesn’t exist and he definitely isn’t good at paying bills. I’ll call this Part I instead and wrap it up when I can. We need to have this discussion. Desperately! And we need to do it with intellectual honesty, not moral superiority. And I mean all of us need to, from all camps. “Avatar Culture” is poison for our children’s minds. The entire framework of “Social Emotional Learning (SEL)” is structured around it. Why do you think the Queered-out Department of Education under the political party driving this destructive dogma looks like the below? That was put out as an ad by our DOE right in the midst of this contentious national debate finally happening. The same party and media outlets that have not informed their brainwashed base about The Cass Review establishing this all as nothing but phantasma and ideology, nor the wicked videos that have surfaced from WPATH showing that these monsters masquerading as doctors knew it was all dogmatic bullshit as they misled parents into sterilizing their own children and damaging their lives irreparably.

Our role as parents is to get our kids to learn how to be happy with who they are, not radicalize against nature and their own bodies in a feverish ideological pursuit of Hope, Change, and Progress! Equity. Nah, that’s just destruction of everything that actually matters and looks to me to be quite intentional.
